Whats All This?
We trespass for fun. We like to spend our time hanging out on rooftops, climbing to the tops of high rise construction sites, creeping around in storm drains, exploring abandoned buildings, riding freight trains, and just generally using the urban environment as our own playground.
We live on a rock that is hurdling through space in several directions at thousands of miles per hour. Our rock sits just close enough to the sun that its nice and warm but not so close that we get fried by radiation. Human existence has been less than a blink of an eye in the 4.5 billion year history of our planet. When our societies eventually fall, and they will fall, the human race will die out and sand will cover our great achievements of steel and concrete. Your existence, my existence, the laws we have made, the structures we have built all mean absolutely nothing. One day I will die. One day you will die. Eventually there will be no record of us ever having lived. So why not take risks? The sadness your friends and family might feel upon your early demise will also pass and they too will die. Society has rules and regulations and miles and miles of red tape aimed to keep us safe. Safe from what? No bureaucracy can stave off that impending mortality for any of us. Morality? We hurt no one here. We’re just tourists after a nice view and some pretty pictures. We choose to live our lives with a little bit of risk and to hold ourselves to a higher morality than what the law calls for. Those who seek to punish us have not my anger but my pity, for they have chosen to live their lives in fear.
Don’t approve? Hey at least we don’t kill innocent people.
